Weekends in Boarding
During residential weekends at Villiers Boarding School in Ireland, it is important for students to strike a balance between rest and relaxation time, as well as structured and organized activities.Saturdays
On Saturdays, students begin their weekends with their choice of activity, most recently these have included cookery, yoga, ballet, hockey and fencing. Saturday afternoons give students an opportunity to have some free time, during which they can sign out from school and experience the local area. Junior students may visit the local shopping area in Jetland. Senior students may visit Limerick City.
Supervised study is also available on Saturdays for students in Form III, V and VI.
Sundays
On Sundays, the students are typically taken on an excursion outside of the school. While excursions on some weekends may be local, others may include other parts of Ireland, and students may travel by private bus to other locations. Over the course of an academic year we aim to visit a mix of cultural and historical sites, as well as introducing the students to various outdoor pursuits. Some recent excursions have included historical walking tours, kayaking, bowling, cinema, surfing, hiking, biking, paintball, and more.
