International Students

International Mindedness is at the heart of Villiers School. Approximately 30% of our school community is international, with 50 countries represented. This cultural diversity is an asset to academic learning, personal development, and social experiences.

Boarding School

Boarders in Villiers appreciate what it means to be part of a highly supportive community. Living and growing together, students understand how their actions affect others. They learn to be considerate of different views as well as resilient to the challenges that life and learning can bring.

Explore Ireland

Unique to Villiers School is the Explore Ireland programme, which allows boarding students to explore our beautiful country while enrolled in a full time boarding programme at Villiers School.

Extracurricular Activities

Villiers School students are encouraged to participate in regular physical activity, and to maintain a balance between academics, extracurricular activities and socialisation. We offer many sporting options to students, the most popular of which are hockey and rugby.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)

Villiers School is the only boarding school in Ireland authorised to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) at senior cycle, offering students the choice between national and international curriculum. We believe that the common philosophy of IB is important for our students and in fitting with the ethos of the School, with a commitment to high quality, challenging and international education. We aspire to develop well-rounded students who are open-minded, confident in their own identities and able to communicate readily and easily with those from different cultures and backgrounds. IBDP graduates are ready to take their place in an interconnected, globalised world.

Pre-IBDP Opportunities in Transition Year

Transition Year in Villiers is a programme of both academic and personal development in Villiers. For those TY students who are considering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at senior cycle, we encourage engagement with Pre-IBDP academic modules, including Mathematics and Languages. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to learn more about the IBDP core, including the Extended Essay (EE), Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). Students are expected to have a minimum of a B1 CEFR in English and be a minimum of 15 years of age when beginning the Transition Year programme. No formal Pre-IB certification will be issued at the end of Transition Year, however, students will have had the opportunity to gain experience in the approaches to teaching and learning at the heart of the IB Diploma Programme, to engage with relevant subject teachers, and to gain valuable insight into their future subject choices and core experiences.

I was always treated nicely here and I find it hard to go back home and leave all the friends I made behind. I felt very comfortable in these four months here and in total the time here in Ireland in the Villiers School was a memorable experience for me and I would really recommend it.

It is immensely important for students to be in a safe, caring environment, where they can succeed and grow, both academically and personally during their school life. This is particularly relevant for international students, and exactly the environment which is at the core of Villiers School.
