Villiers School Awarded European Parliament Ambassador School Status!

Villiers School is delighted to announce that we have been officially recognised as a European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) for the academic year 2024–2025. This status, awarded by the European Parliament Liaison Office (EPLO) in Dublin, reflects our ongoing commitment to promoting democratic values, civic participation, and European awareness within our school community.

The European Parliament Ambassador School (EPAS) programme is a citizenship education initiative of the European Parliament, aimed at promoting understanding of European democracy and the role of the EU among students in second-level education. By participating in EPAS, schools empower young people to actively engage with European affairs, explore EU institutions and policies, and reflect on what it means to be a European citizen.

Over the past year, our students and staff embraced the programme with energy and enthusiasm. Our Junior Ambassadors led a variety of projects and events throughout the year, from classroom debates to creative presentations on EU issues. Meanwhile, our Senior Ambassadors staff members, who facilitate and guide the programme, worked closely with students to ensure the success and impact of these activities.

Villiers School was proud to showcase our work during EPAS award ceremonies and share our journey through our social media platforms. These experiences helped our students build valuable skills in public speaking, presenting, leadership and research skills, along with amplifying their understanding of the European Union and the parliament structure.

We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the European Parliament Liaison Office in Dublin for their guidance and support throughout this journey. Additionally, we would like to commend and congratulate the many students who took part in this initiative and whose contributions made this achievement possible and led to being honoured by this recognition. Particular credit must be given to the Junior Ambassadors, whose dedication and creativity helped bring European topics to life in Villiers.

We are excited to continue our journey as a European Parliament Ambassador School and deepen our engagement with EU citizenship education in the following years. We encourage students to stay involved by joining the Together.eu platform – an initiative promoting active participation in European democracy – and by exploring learning opportunities at the Europa Experience in Dublin city centre.
