Christmas Dinner
Christmas Dinner looked a little different this year!Traditionally, Villiers School Christmas Dinner is a ‘family’ affair, when boarders, day boarders, prefects, student council, and all staff gather together in the dining hall in their finest attire. This year, it was more important than ever for the students to have the opportunity to dress up and celebrate Christmas in a physically distanced, safe manner. Christmas Dinner 2020 was help on December 10th.
There was a few big changes to Christmas dinner this year, the first being that due to public health guidelines, it was not possible for staff to gather together safely. It was also not possible for our TY students to serve dinner, as would have happened in the past, due to the risk of mixing year groups. So, thanks to the boarding staff, Ms. Storey, Ms. Quinn, Brother Graham and the duty staff, the students had the opportunity to sit and enjoy their meal, served by staff members!
Staggered dinner times allowed students to gather in their year groups, physically distanced, beginning with Form I, II, III and IV. Students wore facemasks until they reached their seat.
Next up, our senior students! Form V and VI, and our prefects, enjoyed the second sitting of Christmas Dinner!
The students even had a surprise visitor from the North Pole!!!
Some of the traditions of Christmas Dinner were able to go ahead as normal! Our Head Boy Aidan gave his speech twice, once to juniors and again to seniors, and we had double the number of winners of the ‘best dressed’ competition, with Siofra and Harry taking the title for the Juniors and Nyah and Oscar defeating stiff competition in the Seniors!
Eva, Solomon and Oliver (Form VI) re-enacted their 2015 Christmas Dinner photo! Still smiling five years later!
A great night was had by all, bringing lots of Christmas cheer to our school community! Thanks is due to our catering partners, Independents by Sodexo, for another fabulous Christmas meal. We are really looking forward to Christmas Dinner 2021!!
