Rugby
Villiers School is an affiliated to the Munster Branch and the I.R.F.U as a rugby playing school at B Level. We have teams for boys at :
U 13 U14 U16 (JCT) U19 (SCT),
and for girls at Junior and Senior levels. Our aim is to provide students with the opportunity of taking part in rugby in a safe and structured way that allows players strengths and skills to develop at an age appropriate rate with a big emphasis on participation. To further this aim we to provide each player with regular, well coached training session's regular matches , entry in to age and level appropriate competitions and the opportunity to go on tour. Our coaching staff view participation in rugby as an extension of a players education with emphasis put on:
● Behaviour / respect ● Working in teams ● Diet and lifestyle ● Physical fitness As members of Villiers rugby players are expected to abide by the following guidelines: ● All players to be registered with the IRFU. ● To be committed to the training and playing schedule of the School. ● To have the right attitude towards training, playing, team mates, leaders, selection and representing the School. ● To respect the Ethos, Laws of the Game and traditions of rugby. ● To have the appropriate training and playing kit: For matches: Club jersey/ shorts and sock and gum shield (properly fitted) For training: Jersey/ socks/ shorts/ gum shield - ensure kit is warm and safe.
