At Villiers we have a long tradition of International Students coming and being part of our school community. We value the contribution they make, both as individuals and as representatives of other cultures and customs. We offer them the opportunity of sampling Irish culture and hospitality, while also being given an excellent education in a wide range of different subjects at one of the most respected school in Limerick. It is also a wonderful way to improve their English skills - both indirectly, being part of lessons and socialising with other students, boarders and host families, and directly with the provision of extra English language classes.
This year we have students from Russia, Germany, Pakistan, Spain, France, Brazil, Mexico and Moldovia. Next year we hope to also have students from China, Switzerland and Italy. Many come and spend just a year with us, but some choose to stay longer and take the official state exams at Leaving Certificate that prepare the student for entrance to university. The most popular option is the Transition Year, which all of our students take in 4th Year. Most of our International Students take this course. We offer students the opportunity to be Boarders and stay at the school during the week. They also stay each alternative weekend (this is known as Fortnightly Boarding) and every other week they stay with a host family. The teacher responsible for International Students is Mr Jonathan Lawes and he will be happy to answer any further questions and will be the liaison between parents, students, host families, agencies and the school. He will also be there to support the International Students as well as co-ordinating the extra English programme. For further information and a booking form contact: international@villiers-school.com
