Library

Library stocks are not static. There is constant evaluation and review of stocks. In order to meet the current educational requirements of teachers and students alike.

There is a comprehensive and up to date stock of Fiction material which students can borrow.

The Reference Library has approximately 2,000 books. The library subscribes to 20 journals which include History Ireland, National Geographic, Newsweek, PC Live etc.

The school does not simply believe students should have access to printed books only but should have access to the latest Reference CD-ROMs such as Microsoft Encarta, Grolier etc. There are four multimedia Pentium computers with access to the Internet and CD-ROMs. These are used for research and project work.

The library operates an automated version (ALICE) of the Dewey Classification Scheme; students are taught how to find books using the system. The library is simply not a place for revision; it is also a place to gather material for projects and to learn how a library operates (which is very important for students planning to go to university).
